Dusting: the single most mentioned subject
Nine reviews out of forty-seven talk about dust coming off the record, which makes it the biggest theme by a clear margin. The phrasing is plain. One buyer wrote "Does the job of removing the dust from some pretty old records". Another wrote "Cleans vinyl perfectly, much better than brush cleaners, super satisfied." Nobody quantifies anything, and neither do we: no dust removal figure is published, so you will not find a percentage anywhere on this site.
The mechanism is simple enough to explain without numbers. The long face of the block is covered in velvet, the pile is short and dense, and you sweep it along the groove while the platter turns. Dust ends up in the pile instead of under your stylus. Why the pad is firm, and why that matters
The two small brushes in the set are the ones with real bristles, and each has its own job: the black stylus brush for the needle, the nylon detail brush for the edges and the platter. Between the three, one case covers the record, the stylus and the deck.

Is the big brush really velvet and not carbon fiber?
It is velvet. The long faces of the block are covered in short black velvet pile, and the two small brushes carry the actual bristles. Carbon fiber brushes are a different tool with different habits, and we compare the two openly in carbon fiber versus velvet instead of pretending ours is something it is not.
How big is the block?
The velvet block measures 4.9 in (12.5 cm) long, and both small brushes are 2.4 in (6 cm). The clear cover slides over the velvet for storage and doubles as the handle while you sweep. The whole set weighs 3 oz (85 g) in its box.
Does it work on 78s and CDs?
Yes. The set is listed for 33, 45 and 78 RPM records plus CDs. The sweep is the same in every case: light pressure, follow the groove, lift the block off at the end rather than dragging it across the label.
What do I do when the velvet gets gray?
That is what the white nylon detail brush is for. Draw it across the velvet in one direction, away from you, and the trapped dust comes out of the pile. Doing it after every few records keeps the block working. The full maintenance rhythm is in our record care routine.
Can I use it on the stylus too?
Not the block. The stylus has its own tool in the set, the small brush with the black round head, and it is used back to front only. Step by step instructions are on cleaning a record player needle.
