Star averages hide the interesting part. A 4.6 tells you people are happy, it does not tell you what they are happy about, and it certainly does not tell you what annoyed the rest. So we went through the written feedback line by line and tallied the subjects buyers brought up without being asked. Dusting: the single most mentioned subject
Nine reviews out of forty-seven talk about dust coming off the record, which makes it the biggest theme by a clear margin. The phrasing is plain. One buyer wrote "Does the job of removing the dust from some pretty old records". Another wrote "Cleans vinyl perfectly, much better than brush cleaners, super satisfied." Nobody quantifies anything, and neither do we: there is no dust removal figure from the supplier, so you will not find a percentage anywhere on this site.
The mechanism is simple enough to explain without numbers. The long face of the block is covered in velvet, the pile is short and dense, and you sweep it along the groove while the platter turns. Dust ends up in the pile instead of under your stylus. The pad surprise, in the buyers' own words
This is the objection we get most often before purchase, so it is worth quoting rather than paraphrasing. "It works very well. It's not made of bristles, it's like a hard foam covered with a cloth suitable for that purpose." And a second buyer, in the same spirit: "Good quality for a cheap price. i expected for the foam part to be more like a brush, but it still works." A third asked for more give: "Just for cleaning records, I would like it to be a bit more padded but for the price it's great."
That firmness is the design, not a defect. A floppy brush skates over the surface and pushes dust into a ridge at the edge of the label. A firm pad keeps the velvet flat against the vinyl for the whole sweep. The two small brushes in the set are the ones with real bristles: black ones on the stylus brush, white nylon on the detail brush that re-combs the velvet when it loads up. Delivery: five said fast, three said slow
Five reviews mention quick delivery and three mention the opposite, which is the most honest thing this page can tell you about shipping. "everything perfect. fast shipping. I recommend." sits a few rows away from "Good quality. But the shipping was very slow, it arrived many days after the expected delivery date." One buyer reported more than a month.
Those reviews describe the supplier's own marketplace shipping, not ours. We ship from our own stock, free, and we publish the window we hold ourselves to: 1 to 2 business days to pack, 8 to 10 business days to your door in total. One note on the single-brush listing
A handful of the lower ratings in the file come from people who bought a one-piece listing and expected the full set. One of them wrote that only the small brush arrived, "which is very tiny and not very functional for cleaning the disc". That confusion is real and it is worth naming: the item sold here is the complete three-piece set, with the velvet block, the stylus brush and the nylon detail brush in one case. There is no single-brush option on this site, so there is nothing to misread at checkout.
Reading a 4.6 honestly
Seven people out of 151 left one star. Two left two stars. Five left three. That is nine percent of the file below the middle, and the bars above show it rather than hide it. The one readable three-star review is about the single-brush listing again. Of the one-star ratings that came with any text at all, one is a damaged arrival and one is a buyer who simply wrote "Not great" with no detail, which tells nobody anything.
What the file does not contain is any report of a scratched record, and that is the failure mode that matters most with a cleaning tool. If a product marks vinyl, buyers say so loudly and quickly. Is the big brush really velvet and not carbon fiber?
It is velvet. The long faces of the block are covered in short black velvet pile, and the two small brushes carry the actual bristles. Carbon fiber brushes are a different tool with different habits, and we compare the two openly in carbon fiber versus velvet instead of pretending ours is something it is not.
How big is the block?
The velvet block measures 4.9 in (12.5 cm) long, and both small brushes are 2.4 in (6 cm). The clear cover slides over the velvet for storage and doubles as the handle while you sweep. The whole set weighs 3 oz (85 g) in its box.
Does it work on 78s and CDs?
Yes. The supplier lists 33, 45 and 78 RPM records plus CDs. The sweep is the same in every case: light pressure, follow the groove, lift the block off at the end rather than dragging it across the label.
What do I do when the velvet gets gray?
That is what the white nylon detail brush is for. Draw it across the velvet in one direction, away from you, and the trapped dust comes out of the pile. Doing it after every few records keeps the block working. The full maintenance rhythm is in our record care routine.
Can I use it on the stylus too?
